Designing the University of Oregon Accessible Education Center Logo

Formerly Disability Services, the Accessible Education Center at the University of Oregon’s asked me to design the logo for the new department.

The first logo possibilities were inspired by University of Oregon colors, green and yellow, with the additions of black, gray, and white. The use of negative space was presented as an option as well as a tree silhouette. Attempts were made to emphasize the letters ‘AEC’ to provide users with a shorter name.

Three logos were selected and colors, typeface and placement were explored.

A final image was chosen; one that boasts the initials of the department, with hopes that the name “AEC” will eventually catch on. The colors are relevant to the University and the type expresses support and a solid foundation with which to support students registered with the department. The final colors and bylines were selected to create the department’s new logo.
